Vaal dam water level today

The Water and Sanitation Department today announced the latest water levels for the Vaal Dam. Levels are at a record high for the last two years, the dam currently sits at at over 81% full.

The Gauteng province has received heavy rain this week with multiple reports of flooding, The South African Weather Service says the flooding will continue until at least the end of the week.

At the moment it still seems like a case of two extremes, currently there are floods but the province’s water department says the drought conditions are still continuing throughout.

In the last 24 hours  the dam has risen by a whopping 10.2%.

This means that since 2017 begun Vaal Dam has increased by 37.13%

Last year eight provinces including Gauteng were declared a state of drought disaster, this year rain has been steadily increasing in the province since the middle of January.
